About Me
Always having a passion for photography and animals, 1994 finally saw Tamara bring these two forces together to begin producing her animal based images. Beginning with black and white analogue photography and now based in colour digital images, Tamara first explored the relationship between humans and canines and then humans and horses. After years of defining her practice she has produced work on various animal issues. Some examples of these are as follows; animal domestication, animal slaughter (meat industry), animal by-products, animal cruelty, gelatine, anthropomorphism and specisism. Her most recent work is entitled "Sentient Beings" portraying farm animals in all their beauty when able to live freely juxtaposed with text of how these farm animals really live in horrific factory farm situations. After being involved in many group exhibitions over the years, "Sentient Beings" finally saw Tamara have her first solo exhibition in Melbourne, Australia where she is based. Tamara completed her degree in Media Arts (with distinction) in Melbourne 2004 and is furthering her art practice studying the Grad. Certificate in Animal Welfare at Monash University in 2005. Her main aim with her work is to produce stunning animal images to help raise awareness within our society of the needs and welfare of all kinds of animals.
With a history involved in animal behaviour and care, animal welfare and photography, Tamara is able to create stunning images with the appropriate knowledge to stand by her work.
