About Me
As a child growing up on the northwest coast of Canada, I was inspired to learn to paint and draw at a very young age by the natural beauty around me. I am a primarily self-taught artist currently living in Califorina. Over the years, my work has moved from landscape art to animal art. I work primarily in acrylic paint on stretched canvas.

I chose domestic animal portraiture as my focus because I enjoy the challenge of bringing out animals' unique spirits and personalities. A good portrait artist must reveal what is left unsaid by a photograph; a good animal artist must also capture the essence of subjects who cannot speak for themselves.

My style is based in realism to the extent that I try to capture my subjects' likenesses well. However it is more important to me to show the connection between the animal and the viewer. Working primarily from personal photographs submitted by clients for commissions, I get to glimpse this relationship as the camera tells it and hear stories about their lives. As an animal lover and as an artist, I have seen many wonderful examples of the connection between animals and the people who love them. The many facets of this silent bond are what I strive to portray in my work.
