About Me
I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be an artist or love animals, particularly horses. The two loves have been intertwined since early childhood, even when Life led me in different directions. Drawing and escaping into a fantasy world of horses helped me to cope with and survive a traumatic childhood.

I acquired my first horse at the age of twelve, but both horses and art were put aside for many years for the more practical need to earn a living and raise a family. Still, when my children were young, I managed to go back to school and earn a degree in commercial art, which seemed more practical than a fine art degree.

It didn't take long to figure out that graphic design was not my forte and that fine art was my true love. So, I began a career as a pet portrait artist, using many of the graphic skills I'd acquired in art school to promote my business. In 2003, after a successful portrait career, I again changed direction and am now concentrating on creating artwork for exhibition and branching out into wildlife and farm scenes.

Although I grew up in the city of Ann Arbor, Michigan, I spent a lot of time exploring the surrounding woods and fields at a time when it was safe to allow children to roam at will. Since 1971 I've lived in northern Michigan surrounded by nature's beauty.

In 1989 I purchased my current horse, Scotty, and together we are learning the art of dressage and enjoy trail riding in our beautiful northern Michigan woods. I attend horse shows and events whenever possible, gathering reference material for more paintings. Since we live on a lake, there is abundant wildlife just outside our door and farmland all around.

Artwork and a love of animals have been healing elements in my life, and it's my goal to portray all that is beautiful in the world and none of what is ugly or cruel. It is my intention to donate a portion of every art sale to animal rescue groups in the hope of giving back to the creatures who have given me so much in this life.
