Nature has always been an immensely important part of my life, along with art, but it was not until my late twenties that these two interests combined in to wildlife art.
In my paintings I try to capture the essence of the animal, I'm always striving for the point where you can almost see the animal breath.
As I paint an animal I often find myself reliving the moment I first encountered it, this in turn rekindles the emotions, sights, sounds and smells, until I begin to feel that I am there again and I hope that this is then projected in to my paintings.
My paintings are quite realistic but I always try to incorporate some more painterly passages.
Following a recent trip to Africa to study wildlife in its natural environment my paintings are, for the time being, almost exclusively of an African nature.
As I continue to progress with my art I share this development through detailed step-by-step demonstrations on my website, in a hope that others may learn as I do.
Through my paintings I also hope to increase public awareness of conservation issues as well as highlighting the beauty of nature.

I have most recently (2002) sold work at 'The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art' in the UK.
