Hi! My name is Frank Taylor. I am a self-taught
colored pencil artist. Wildlife art is my specialty. Many other
artists of the past have inspired me to do my work. Firstly, my
dad, Walt Disney and Bob Ross to name a few.

I always wanted to 'breath life' some how into
an otherwise flat image. So I adapted the technique called 'Trompe
l'oeil' which means 'to fool the eye', and developed an imagery
'signature' of my own. As you can see this gives a '3-D' effect
that is both subtle and appealing.
|
| Each painting I produce starts with a hand picked photo or photos
I've taken at zoos etc. I try to use the photo with the best particular
'look' that I want the animal or bird to have. Once I've chosen reference
photos, I begin the process of composition. This involves the right
placement of the animal in the painting along with surrounding background
and foreground. Obviously it is also important to place the animal's
ear foot etc. out of the painted boarder, for that 3-D effect. Generally
it takes about one to two months for me to complete a work. Thank
you for taking an interest in my work! |
