About Me
Christine Winship is a watercolor artist who has been specializing in doing pet portraits for the last 5 years. She grew up in rural Massachusetts surrounded by family and lots of animals giving her strength and inspiration that continues today. She studied art 'core' program at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC, then moved back to Massachusetts to complete her BFA in Illustration at the Art Institute of Boston. Christine frequently donates her paintings and prints to animal shelters and rescue organizations in order to raise funds for these worthy causes. She has recently shown her work at the Willoughby & Baltic Gallery in Somerville, MA and at the Old Lyme Art Association in Lyme CT.
"My art, whether it be pets or a landscape, it's the preparation and the paint on paper. I love the use of watercolors, washes and layers and the excitement of knowing that once it's on paper, there's no way to cover it up. It's a challenge for me every time. I'm always looking for new ways to bring different things to my watercolors. For example, I have started using black watercolor paint and making black and white images with color pencil overlays.
I thank you for taking the time to look at my work. I hope you take the time to notice art in everything you do. It's out there for all to see. " |
